Nutritional Therapy
What is
Nutritional Therapy?
Application of Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine
Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition and lifestyle medicine sciences in the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care.
Registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioners assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to your symptoms and health concerns.
Practitioners consider each individual to be unique and recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
Personalised nutrition is tailored specifically for you, taking into account your health journey, your health goals, dietary preferences, and emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The practitioner may use functional tests to inform the recommendations that are based on your unique biological individuality.
Who Are Consultations Relevant For?
Personalised nutrition consultations are relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis; anyone with persistent digestive issues or those wishing to support an autoimmune condition, as well as those looking to enhance their health and wellbeing. Recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice; practitioners frequently work alongside medical professionals to support individuals’ wellbeing.
Complementary, not alternative
BANT practitioners do not diagnose or treat disease, and recommendations are not a replacement for medical advice; practitioners frequently work alongside medical professionals to support an individual’s wellbeing.

Your Nutritional Therapy Questionnaire
All except for the Diet MOT, prior to consultations (held online), a thorough nutritional therapy questionnaire is required to be completed and returned at least one week before the consultation. The questionnaire covers medical and family history, medications and supplements, current symptoms, your health goals, as well as a 3-day food and lifestyle diary. Test results from the previous 12 months can also be reviewed.
Initial Consultation
All consultation packages start with an initial consultation (60 minutes) in which we review your nutritional therapy questionnaire, discuss your health goals, symptoms and establish the first steps of your personalised health optimisation plan, as well as consider any testing and supplements that may be helpful in achieving your health goals.
Follow-up sessions
Progress and any test results are reviewed in the follow-up sessions (either 45 or 30 minutes in length) and next steps agreed. Depending upon the package, a number of discounted 15-minute email or phone contact points are included as check-ins and to answer any questions or issues that may crop up.
